A while back, (last November me thinks...) Boris posted a list courtesy of the BBC of 50 places to see before you die. So here are the fifty... and the ones I've seen so far.

So that's it for now... of 50 I've seen 9, so I've got a long way to go. Next year I should be able to pick up a few in Europe as I'll be going to visit my friend Jeff in Switzerland, after that I should be up somewhere around 12. Almost a quarter of the way there!
Boris is at 14 already, I've got a lot of catching up to do!
David,
Don't worry - I feel like I have a lot to go too, since I've only seen 10 - maybe we'll have to see some together!
You forgot to add in this list the beautiful city of ISTANBUL in Turkiye!!!
I really can't understand hatred of Englishs against Turks. There must be at least 3 cities of Turkiye in this list.
I've been to 19 places!!! Sandra from Brazil
On the face of this earth the most beautiful place is Hunza, specially rakaposhi with its etheral beauty
when ı was watching the program,I hope to see a place from Turkey, but couldn't see. You can add a lot of wonderfull places from Turkey. Here is the heven.....
My god... why are people in Turkey so darn insulted that Turkey isn't on the list. While I'm sure that there are nice places to go in Turkey, the Beeb didn't list them... and they probably aren't on most people's top 50 list. Get over it.
Program was exiting. When you watch you are thinking that you should see these places before you die. Everybody says the places that they are living in is the best place on the earth. And I will do the same thing. I watched the program this morning and I really suprised there's no place listed from Turkey. I saw some parts of that program shooted from Istanbul. I saw Galata Tower (If I'm not blind). I also very suprised that The Grand Canyon is on the top of list! There's so much places more AWESOME than The Grand Canyon. I would like to talk about Uluru. What's that? Who voted for that rock? I can't understand. Anyway, visit these places before you die and when you become a spirit visit Turkey (Thus we will not able to bite you, as you guess).
This is an answer mostly for those who think Turkish people cannot accept that Istanbul in not included in this top 50 list. What we oppose is that some parts of the program were shot in Istanbul, with Bosphorous, Dolmabahce Palace, Galata Tower and the Blue Mosque views, and we were all waiting to see Istanbul in the list naturally. So, this is the reason of the same reactions from Turkish people.. otherwise, we all know that many dream places are skipped in the list, not just Turkey’s cities.
I have only been to four of these and two of them as a child. How lame is that?
I think I will take a trip that takes me from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Russia, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, and ending up in Greece. I feel like I'm missing one in there but I'm not quite sure...
One of the most beatifull places in the world is Costa Rica in Central America.
I live in Florida and believe we have the best sunsets in the world... IF you're on the water. That having been said, if anyone has been to the Bahamas any other place on the list, send a comparison. The Bahamas are stunning. France is beautiful. Alsaka is a sensory overload. The Northern Lights a wonder.
Have you ever been to South Korea?
There are a lot of heritage site in South Korea.
(Specially, bulguksa is wonderful temple.)
If you want some pictures, I can send you.
Well, I've only been to 8, unless you count the Luxor in Vegas, instead of Egypt, which makes 9! So many more to go....
I was very surprised by the comments given by the Turkish fellows.I don't understand why?If someone thinks I'm not a handsome guy,I will accept this .It's not a compliment, however I won't get insulted!Personally,I visited Turkey and it's nice but some other places are more beautiful,And Mr. Orhun Erkan, don't spoil comliments given to Uluru or the Grand Canyon,it's not nice!
hi,I know lots of these places, visited 5 of them, & eager to know about the others as much as I'm eager to let everyone know about some magnificent places that might not be well known, like the White Desert,Siwa Oasis, the Crystalline Mountain, the Sun Lake,Ras Mohammed & Fjord bay in Egypt. Cappadocia , Olympos, Yanartas, Ephesus & Pammukale in Turkey, the Italian Riviera & finally the Ice Hotel in Sweden, I hope everyone would be able to visit such wonderful places, they're really worth going. I'm Egyptian, have been around Egypt ,Turkey & Europe, & believe that everywhere on earth there should be a magnificent thing to see.
