"Dude from Texas" Experimental Linking

By smithdm3 - Posted on 29 September 2003

Alright... So as Boris states here, we were out Friday night and met this guy from Texas.... Boris took a picture of he and I and one thing led to another.

Boris stated that he figured this guy could later see the picture if he did a search for "Dude from Texas" on Google in a week or two. We figured we should be able to get it into the top couple of hits, if not the first hit within the timeframe. We'll have to see how it goes. See "More" and comments for ongoing status.
Sept 29th - Boris' entry up for less than one day. Mine not yet posted.
Top 5 Search results:

*Texas Lil's Dude Ranch: Texas Experience Cookout
*Texas Lil's Dude Ranch - horseback riding, cookouts, picnics, ...
*Dude Ranches, Texas, USA - Jus4fun in Texas
*Dixie Dude Ranch - Bandera, Texas
*Cowboy.com The Western Connection ... Travel:Lodging:Dude Ranches ...

Actually Dave, I was thinking the entire phrase -- like this: "dude from texas" --> http://www.google.com/search?q="dude+from+texas"&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

No way... we can do better than that... We should be able to get the two terms "Dude" & "Texas" to pop up our entries one, two... ;)

Sept 30th - Boris' entry up two days, this one up one day

No sign yet on Google...

Oct 3rd, Well, Blog has been up for 5 days now on my site, 6 on Boris' I'm now the number one result for Boris' desired search string "Dude from Texas" - quite wild really. Unfortunately neither of us have cracked the first couple of pages of a search for the terms "Dude" and "Texas". Boris comes in about 15th for his desired string....

Oct 5th, Boris is now listed 6th followed by me at 8th in a search for "Dude" and "Texas" ... Pretty wild. In the "Dude from Texas" sweepstakes, Boris has passed me and made first, followed by me at third (He's got two references, followed by two for me)
