Week 3 of Running Complete

Posted on 12 November 2005

Well, while I didn't post last week, I have been (mostly) keeping up with my running. After doing all three runs the first week (though the long run that week - 6 miles - involved lots of walking), I missed the long run in week 2 (bad me, that was 7 miles... :( ). This week I got it all in, though I had to play a bit with the schedule. I ran 3 miles (no walking!) on Tuesday on a hotel treadmill in Minneapolis, then didn't run Wednesday since I spent a lot of time at a customer site, then in the office, then in airports and airplanes. Anyway, I made up for that by doing my 4 mile (Wednesday runs went up this week, I think I took one walking break between mile 3 and mile 4) on Thursday after a workout, then 3 miles (one walk) after a leg workout (that was hard!) last night. Then today I went in, worked out and did my 'long run' which was only 5 miles this week. I did walk a minute at 2.5 miles, but otherwise finished it all in 49 minutes, so not a bad pace at all. I think that if I'd taken another break at 5 miles, I probably could have done 7 today, so that's pretty heartening! It's going okay, but I still hate it mostly... though I do think I like (contrary to most people) running on the treadmill more.

Excellent work Dave! I've managed to slack off this week, dropped my Wednesday and Thursday runs. Wednesday was because I didn't feel like running and Thursday was because I spent the day travelling and didn't feel like running. While I was supposed to do the long run today, I opted to switch it up and will do it tomorrow. I just planned out my route. I've still got my super human ability of being able to get up really early so I think I may do that run tomorrow morning at like 6 am.

I wouldn't say I prefer to run on the treadmill, but I don't mind it. Keep it up Dave, I'll see you when I get back in town.

What?! This wont let me post links?! This sucks. Upgrade to Drupal will ya?!

Here is the link for the route:
